Freelancers’ Accounts is an independent website about money for freelancers and the self-employed: how to get paid by international clients, invoice correctly, understand taxes, manage irregular income and build a more stable financial life while working for yourself.
Who is behind this site
Hi, I’m Alba Menéndez, based in Málaga, Spain. I am a computer science student with an interest in the creation and development of websites. I hope to be of help to those who have questions regarding the topics discussed on this website.
I started this site because the information about working with clients abroad is scattered, often written for another country and rarely explained in plain language. I wanted to put the practical basics in one place.
What you will find here
- Getting paid: receiving money from clients abroad, multi-currency accounts and exchange rates.
- Invoicing: how to invoice foreign companies and clients, with templates.
- Taxes by country: general explanations, with a focus on Spain.
- Legal structure: freelancer, company and insurance basics.
- Digital nomads: managing money while you travel.
- Money management: budgeting, emergency funds and paying yourself a salary, with a free spreadsheet.
- Getting international clients: platforms, pricing, contracts and communication.
How I write these guides
- I research each topic using official sources, such as tax agencies, government sites and regulators, and I list them at the end of each article.
- Rules about taxes, social security and visas change often, so I try to say when a figure should be checked and I date the guides.
- I do not recommend a product because I am paid to. If a page ever contains affiliate links or sponsored content, it will say so clearly.
Important: this is not professional advice
I am not a lawyer, tax adviser or financial adviser, and the content on this website is general information, not personal advice. Your situation may be different, so please check important decisions with a qualified professional, such as a gestor or an accountant. See the Legal Notice for details.
